Asia Cup 2018: Asia Cup Trophy unveiled in Abu Dhabi

The tournament will get underway from 15 September in the UAE.

The Asia Cup 2018 trophy was unveiled amidst a pleasant ceremony in Abu Dhabi, Dubai by Cabinet Member and Minister of Tolerance and Emirates Cricket Board Chairman Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan on Wednesday (7 September).

Emirates Cricket Board Vice-Chairman Khalid Al Zarooni, General Secretary Emirates Cricket Board Mubashshir Usmani, Marketing Manager, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Prabhakaran Thanraj, who attended on behalf of both BCCI and The Asian Cricket Council.  Founder and Chairman Dr B.R. Shetty, Dubai Sports City Chief Financial Officer Vijay Sajjanhar and Abu Dhabi Cricket Club Acting CEO Mathew Boucher were among those who attended the function in Dubai.

The Indian cricket team posted a video of the trophy unveiling on their official Instagram handle with the caption, “The Asia Cup Trophy unveiled in UAE. What do you make of this beautiful Trophy?”

Meanwhile, India will go into the tournament under Rohit Sharma will start their campaign against Hong Kong on September 18. They play arch-rivals Pakistan next on September 19. India under Sharma, will also play the tournament with an aim to defend the title.

Meanwhile, the Asia Cup 2018 will be played across two different venues in United Arab Emirates (UAE) –Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Teams are divided into two different groups with India, Pakistan and Hong Kong placed in Group A and Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan placed in Group B.

 Asia Cup 2018 opener will be played between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on 15 September at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
