Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has taken his opportunity to welcome former Protean skipper AB De Villiers into the PSL after he has officially made an announcement on Twitter on Friday (September 7).

De Villiers who is well travelled T20 cricketer in his own rights has played in T20 cricket leagues all across the world. The former South African skipper announced his international retirement earlier this year in May to send a shockwave to his followers all around the world.

One of the highlights of the South African team under De Villiers was their semi-final loss against New Zealand in the 2015 World Cup. The team under him was considered as one of the favorites to win that edition of the World over, however, the scenes after their loss told a befitting story regarding their luckless fortunes in World Cup finals.

In franchise cricket, his exploits with Royal Challengers Bangalore over the years has given different dimension to IPL cricket and its following over the years. He is one of the most popular players to have played the IPL and certainly once he joins PSL, the franchise that he plays for will have a great fan following as well.

Welcoming AB De Villiers into the PSL, Afridi wrote in a tweet, “Welcome to @thePSLt20 my friend @ABdeVilliers17. Look forward to seeing you. The cricket fans in Pakistan love your batting, you’ll really enjoy the league. Thank you for opting for PSL!”
