From the day MS Dhoni made his debut he given his 100% while serving as a wicket-keeper. That's one of the reasons why team India never looked bothered when it came to wicket-keeping. In ODIs, he has stepped down from captaincy but still secures his place as a wicket-keeper batsman.

It becomes very difficult for the rising wicket-keepers to replace the man who has cemented himself behind the wickets for the last almost one and a half decade. When selectors aren't really tensed about an alternative wicket-keeper it gets difficult for a player who is in that specific role to be in the contention. However, Dhoni is on the verge of bidding adieu to cricket and that generates an opportunity for the keepers who are fighting it out for the place.

Wriddhiman Saha, the injured wicket-keeper batsman knows how to be focused when someone like Dhoni dominates all three formats.

“Who doesn't want to play for India? When Dhoni was playing for India and we were playing domestic cricket, we focused on our performances, as boring as it may sound. It was never like, 'Okay, Dinesh Karthik has hit a ton today, I have to match up as well, or for Parthiv.' All of us try equally, we try and be the best we can be for our state sides or IPL teams or clubs, that would catch the attention,” said the 33-year-old.

Saha spoke about the importance of being patient for the opportunity with a cool head. “It is important in such situations, especially when you have someone as successful and immovable as Dhoni at the top. It is key to not lose your head when selected or get demoralized when dropped. I don't keep an eye on others' scores. Of course, there are people who will remind you of these scores, but it depends how you filter it,” Saha added.

The Bengal cricketer is currently recovering from injury. He has revealed that he will be back in contention for selection in four months time.
