Having gone through a long injury lay-off from the game, Josh Hazlewood is hoping to make a return by featuring for New South Wales in the upcoming 50-overs domestic One-Day competition.

The right-arm fast bowler, who has had back stiffness and missed Australia's winter limited overs tours to England and Zimbabwe, won't be travelling to play Pakistan in United Arab Emirates either. Instead, Hazlewood is currently in strive to be fully fit for the start of the home summer, which begins with the inaugural List A state tournament.

He is making a good recovery from a lumbar bone stress problem and doesn't, rightfully, want to rush things. Back and Shoulder injuries are the two most dangerous ones that fast-bowlers are always vulnerable to and require utmost care for.

Talking about his comeback, the 27-year-old was quoted saying, "There's a lot of cricket coming up and not just this summer, so this (recovery program) will give me the best chance to get through that and I’ll take my time getting back into it, I am almost back to full intensity now, I'm (bowling) at about 90-95 percent and everything is pulling up well each time."

"If they were one-dayers (in the UAE) I think I would back myself in, but that extra load for Test matches and the continuous days, you need that work under your belt to be right. At the start of the summer you don’t really want to push hard for a tour and miss the rest of the summer," he added.

Hazlewood's been on the same recovery programme that Pat Cummins is going through. Cummins has also had back issue and is expected to feature at some stage of the JLT Cup too.

Talking about it, Hazlewood added, "We are on pretty similar programs and I have been bowling a lot with Pat, He is looking good, we are at about the same spot and hope to get back in at the JLT at some stage and we will go from there."

The Australian 50-overs domestic competition begins September 16.
