Australian all-rounder Mithcell Marsh will be leading Perth Scorchers under the guidance of Adam Voges in the upcoming edition of Big Bash League. The news was confirmed by the franchise on Friday (September 7).

Scorchers can dream of a successful upcoming BBL season under Marsh, as they have a strong squad with an impressive pace-battery in Andrew Tye, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jason Behrendorff, while Shaun Marsh and Michael Klinger will be expected to carry the batting responsibility in the tournament.

Meanwhile, suspended Australian batsman Cameron Bancroft has been also roped in by Scorchers and is expected to make his comeback against Hobart Hurricanes on December 30, while David Willey is the only overseas signing made by the Scorchers at the moment.

As per reports in Cricbuzz, Voges said, “To retain our core group of players has been really important for us and we're pleased everyone has decided to stay. With WA having such a strong presence in the Australian white ball teams it means a lot of our younger players will get more opportunities for the Scorchers, and many of those guys played for us last summer so I'm excited for them to build on that experience. We have wanted to be consistent with our squads across all three formats, so naming Mitch as captain was a good fit. He's an exciting leader and I'm sure the Scorchers fans are going to be happy.”

Perth Scorchers will kick off their BBL 2018-19 campaign against Melbourne Renegades on December 20 with the aim to claim their fourth title.
