Former New Zealand cricketer Grant Bradburn has been appointed as Pakistan’s fielding coach as confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday (6 September).

The 52-year-old New Zealander who stepped down as Scotland coach to take up a role as assistant coach with Pakistan, signed a three-year contract with the PCB.

Bradburn, who had earlier expressed interest in becoming New Zealand's new head coach, will join the Pakistan squad in UAE for the 2018 Asia Cup. He will replace Steve Rixon as fielding specialist who didn’t extend his contract with the Pakistan after it ended with the England tour this June and will work alongside head coach Mickey Arthur.

He said it was a "great honour" to join the "high-quality" Pakistan set-up and is looking forward to add his experience to the players and staff.

As per reports in Sport Star Live, Bradburn said in a statement posted by PCB, “It is a great honour to be joining Pakistan Cricket Team and their high-quality coaching staff. I have seen the progress that has been made under Mickey Arthur and the opportunity to work with a leading full member team on the rise in world cricket, is a real privilege. Against Scotland in June, we saw the impressive changes that have been instilled, noticeably with the physical stature and fielding abilities of Pakistan's players.

He signed off by saying, “I look forward to adding my experience to the players and staff, while being an integral part of the exciting and dominant team, Team Pakistan is becoming.”
