Asia Cup 2018: Imad Wasim reacts after being axed from Pakistan squad

Pakistan’s premier all-rounder Imad Wasim failed to pass the mandatory Yo-Yo Test, resulting in him being dropping out from the national squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2018 to be held in the UAE.

Reacting on his failure to pass the fitness Test and axing from Pakistan’s squad, Wasim is very disappointed to miss the 2018 edition of the Asia Cup saying he will work hard to get back in the reckoning. He also wished all the best to his country for the Asia Cup 2018 and asked his team to win the title. 

On Tuesday (4 September), Wasim wrote on his official Twitter handle, “Unfortunately i will miss the Asia cup  due to my fitness....IA will work on it and get back to my best soon...wish team Pakistan ???????? goodluck for Asia cup...#BringItHome #PakistanZindabad”

In the modern era,  clearing the fitness test is mandatory for any player to make it to the national squad and Pakistan have kept their Yo-Yo benchmark as 17.4  which the all-rounder missed it by 0.2.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the preliminary 16-member squad for the Asia Cup 2018 on Tuesday with an uncapped opening batsman Shan Masood was called up for national duty, as well as, included two openers –Fakhar Zaman and Imam ul Haq for the event.

Pakistan also included as many as six seamers-Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Usman Khan, Mohammad Amir, Shaheen Afridi and Junaid Khan in their bowling department for the tournament.
