Bangladesh batsman Mohammad Ashraful is expected to be placed in the draft for the upcoming Afghanistan Premier League (APL) to be played in the UAE from 5 October.

Ashraful further added that he is eyeing to make comeback through Afghanistan’s T20 league as he believes that the platform will help him to prove his fitness and form to make national comeback.

Former Bangladesh skipper was handed a five-year ban from all forms of cricket following his involvement in match-fixing and spot-fixing the Bangladesh Premier League 2013. Having served his ban, Ashraful is now raring to make a comeback and represent his country again.

Ashraful told Cricbuzz on Tuesday (4 September), “I am looking forward to take part in the APL if any team chooses to pick me from the draft. I am expected to be placed in the draft.”

He signed off by saying, “If I can manage to get a team, it will be exciting for me as the platform will help me to answer a lot of questions that is raised regarding my fitness and form in the recent times.”

On the other hand, Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin has recently made it clear that “there is no place for him in the national team at the moment” after Ashraful wishing for a comeback into the national side last month.

While, the inaugural edition of the APL is scheduled to be held from October 5 to October 23 in the UAE, will include both Afghan and foreign players in the five franchises.
