Australian opener Matt Renshaw is currently recovering from the minor hamstring strain that he sustained during just-concluded Quadrangular One Day series in India.

Despite the injury, Renshaw was able to have a net session on Friday in a bid to prove his fitness and hoping to play in the four-day series against India.

At the moment, Matt is working hard to make himself match-ready for the two Four-Day games against India A which is slated to start from 2 September (Sunday) in Bangalore.

However, Renshaw does not have much time to attain 100 percent fitness before the series but would certainly like to play in the India A series to make a case strong for the upcoming Pakistan Test series.

The left-hander picked up the injury in the seventh match of the Quadrangular series while batting against South Africa A.  Also he is in doubt for India A series as Marnus Labuschagne has already been named as a replacement for the opener.

Australia and Pakistan are scheduled to play two-match Test series in October 2018 and Renshaw is eyeing the opener’s slot for the series as their premier opener David Warner and batter Steve Smith are serving their bans at the moment.

The 22-year-old has played 11 Test and amassed 636 runs at an average of 33.47 with his lone century coming against Pakistan in Sydney for Australia so far. He also scored 3035 runs at an average of 41.01 in 42 first-class games.

If Matt gets select for the Pakistan series, he could prove to be a vital cog for Australia in UAE, where they will also play three T20 Internationals starting from 24 October after Test series.
