Former Indian batsman turned commentator VVS Laxman has announced his dream Indian Test XI of the last 25 years.

VVS has seen a lot of Indian cricket from deep inside over the best part of last three decades, first as a player who played with immaculate integrity and now as someone who is watching how things work from the outside world.

Having played alongside some of the greatest Indian players, it was only correct that he was given the opportunity to pick what he sees as India's best XI of the last 25 years.

Speaking on a show for ESPNcricinfo, VVS picked the flair and domination of Virender Sehwag as well as the control and fortitude of Murali Vijay to open the innings for his team.

Then the famous middle-order that he played in. Rahul Dravid, rightfully, like he would do in most dream XI's, bats at no.3. The Master Blaster and one of the game's greatest ever batsman Sachin Tendulkar bats at no.4.

Now, nobody would've to mind it if he had put himself in at no.5 but the ever modest and understated VVS chose the current Indian Captain Virat Kohli for the sheer weight of runs he has scored in all conditions and formats across the last decade for the country.

Sourav Ganguly, one of India's best captains ever, leads VVS's side too and bats at no.6. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is, deservingly, the wicketkeeper-batsman at no.7.

The star-studded bowling line up includes Anil Kumble as the lone spinner and Javagal Srinath, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Zaheer Khan as the three potent and crucially, varyingly skilled fast bowlers.

Laxman's Indian Test XI of the last 25 years:

Virender Sehwag, Murali Vijay, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Anil Kumble, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Javagal Srinath, Zaheer Khan
