The Australian A side is in Bengaluru for a quadrangular series and so is former Indian coach Greg Chappell guiding the side in the tournament. When the former India coach was invited by a friend to his textile workshop in Yeshwanthpur Industrial suburb near Bangalore, he did not expect to give a speech. But as it turned out, the executives of Arun Goenka, one of the directors of Textport Industries, did not expect too the way Chappell's visit went.

“Bangalore is a vibrant, energetic city of which I have many happy memories and our squad (Australia) is delighted to be based here, for now,” Chappell told Mirror on Friday evening.

A question on Virat Kohli then brought all the emotions out from the former Australian cricketer who praised Kohli in heaps. He was effusive in his praise for the India skipper and called him the most outstanding batsman of the current era.

“His partnership Rahane in the first innings was the decisive period of play during the Trent Bridge Test match,” he said adding a praise on the Indian bowlers. “I thought the Indian bowlers were much more consistent and exploited English conditions skilfully.”

Chappell was the coach of the Indian team from 2005 to 2007. He was involved in a number of heated debates as Team India coach. His rivalry in many ways former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly is popular around the cricketing fraternity.

His stint came to an end with India's debateable exit from the 2007 World Cup where they failed to cross the league stage.
