Jake Ball, the Nottinghamshire and England pace bowler, has been ruled out of the rest of the English domestic season with a back injury. Ball himself confirmed the news on Saturday (August 25).

Ball picked up the injury during a T20 Blast game against Derbyshire on 2 August 2018. The pacer, who has played four Tests and 18 one-day internationals for England, last featured in a T20 match against India on 8 July at home.

So far in the T20 Blast, Ball has picked up just three wickets in the tournament with an economy of 9.26 with Nottinghamshire scheduled to play Somerset in the quarterfinal on Sunday (August 26).

As per reports in ESPNCricinfo, Ball said, “I'm extremely disappointed to get the news, I'd hoped to be back for the final parts of the season but unfortunately that isn't possible."

The paceman signed off by saying, “I'll be following and supporting the boys and hopefully we can get through to Finals Day and have a go at defending our title. For me I'll be working hard on my rehab so that I can have a full winter programme and be raring to go for next season.”

With the latest development, Ball might have be-fit before the one-day tour of Sri Lanka in October if there are any injury concerns for Englands first choice pace attack.
