Fast bowling sensation Jofra Archer, who has made a name for himself in the white ball formats playing for Big Bash League as well as Indian Premier League franchises, has said that he wishes to have a long career playing for England. Having moved to England from the Caribbean, Archer was first seen playing for Sussex in the county championship and was then drafted into the Hobart Hurricanes squad in last year's BBL. The youngster got the biggest break of his life, when Rajasthan Royals purchased him for the IPL 2018. 

"I didn’t grow up in abundant fortune. With the earnings from IPL, I can make up for the stuff that I didn’t have as a child. I can give myself and the family a better standard of living,” Archer was recently quoted saying as the first time winners bought him in for 7.2 crores. 

Archer, having grown up in Barbados has featured three times for the West Indies under-19s. He is not eligible to play for England until the winter of 2022 when he will have completed the seven-year residency period. Archer also needs to spend 210 days of each of these seven years in UK as part of the required conditions of eligibility. 

"I think I have a longer career in England than I would have in Barbados, It was really upsetting and I think I took it too seriously. That summer was the first summer I went to England, After playing with Sussex, I really think the conditions in England suit me." Archer said in an Interview given to BBC recently, "I saw that it's possible to play for England. I'm still young now so I think it's a blessing really, not to play so young. Who knows - I could have a bad game or a bad series, and that could be me," 

Jofra is going to be very popular amongst the T20 sides around the world but if he is to play for England, he'll be a very fine addition to three lions' setup across all formats of the game.
