Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin’s son, Mohammad Asaduddin has made it to the Goa squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. However, the 28-year-old left-hand batsman is also a ‘professional player’ but has never featured in the Ranji Trophy.

Asaduddin shifted to Uttar Pradesh in 2014 in a bid to get an opportunity to play in the country’s premier domestic tournament but was not given a chance in the playing XI in the Ranji Trophy.

Meanwhile, Asaduddin, who has been playing consistently for MP Colts in Hyderabad’s A-division league cricket, as well as, featured for National Club last year, shifted to the Goa Cricket Association, which responded him quickly and hoping to feature in the Playing XI this season.

Asaduddin told Sportstar, “I was part of the IPL auctions too but did not get picked. I was playing well in the local circuit and approached a few associations. That’s how it happened.”

He further added, “I did not get an opportunity to play from Hyderabad. So, whoever gives me a chance, I will play. And with all sorts of problems in the HCA, I don’t see a chance.”

Asaduddin further went on to reveal that his father Azharuddin is excited about his new assignment with Goa. Asaduddin signed off by saying, “My dad is really happy for me. This is a big opportunity for me. I will try to give my best in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy.”
