Asia Cup 2018: Pakistan eyeing to replicate CT 2017 performance in UAE, says Fakhar Zaman

Young Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman has shattered a string of records in his short cricketing career in the limited-overs game and now is keen on to make the same impact in the traditional format of the game –Test cricket when they will play Australia in the UAE. 

The 28-year-old, the quickest to reach 1000 OFI runs for Pakistan is looking forward to playing in the upcoming two-match Test series against Australia, which is scheduled to be played in Pakistan’s adopted home –the UAE in October 2018.

The young Pakistan batsman in a recent interview spoke about his preparations for Test cricket, a format in which he is keenly interested in making an impact. 

Zaman told Daily Express, “I’m eager to play Test cricket. Currently I’m rigorously preparing for the series against Australia and hope that I will be given an opportunity during the series.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan is all set to face India in the upcoming Asia Cup 2018 in the UAE next month before playing the Kangaroos in the Tests and Zaman, who played a key role in Pakistan’s victory over India in the Champions Trophy 2017, said they are eyeing to replicate their Champions Trophy success in the multi-nation event as well.

Zaman signed off by saying, “We are preparing adequately in order to perform to the best of our ability. We are capable of repeating the performance we showed in the last Champions Trophy in England. Players are putting in the hard yards and hopefully we will perform in accordance with the expectations of the entire nation.”
