Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has given resignation from his position on Monday, August 20, in the wake of change in the political scene of the country. Having seen former all-rounder and country's greatest cricketer, Imran Khan, being elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, Najam Sethi wrote a letter to Khan, which stated, “In order to facilitate your objectives in the interest of Pakistan cricket, I hereby submit my resignation as chairman of PCB and Member of its BoG (Board of Governor)”

Imran has the constitutional right to be the patron of the PCB, according to which he has also appointed Ehsan Mani as the new chairman. He tweeted the development and wrote regarding Mani that, “He brings vast and valuable experience to the job. He represented PCB in the ICC; was Treasurer ICC for 3 yrs and then headed the ICC for another 3 yrs,”

Sethi and Imran have had long-standing political issues with each other. In 2013 when Najam Sethi was the caretaker of chief minister of Punjab province, Khan alleged that it is Sethi who helped former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to win a majority of seats in the national assembly.

Nevertheless, Sethi, who served Pakistan Cricket for long, has high hopes from Imran to take the good work forward.

Sethi further wrote in his letter that he tweeted too, “You have said on many occasions that you have a vision for Pakistan cricket, Therefore it is only proper that you should assume charge and responsibility for assembling a management team for PCB that enjoys your full confidence and trust.”
