Navjot Singh Sidhu suggests matches between winning teams of IPL and PSL

Pakistan is a safe country to play here, claims Sidhu.

Najvot Singh Sidhu has given an “Idea” to have a match between the winning teams of the Indian Premier League and Pakistan Super League in a bid to bring the two countries together while leaving for India from the Wagah Border on Sunday (19 August). He was in Pakistan to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad.

As per reports in Samaa TV Sidhu told reporters before leaving for Lahore, “Cricket takes us to a whole new level. A match between the winning team of the IPL and PSL is a good idea."

Former Indian cricketer also believes that cricket can bring Pakistan and India together, as well as, called the trip a "new beginning" of a good relations between the two rival nations. He further added, “I hope I have laid the foundations and someone will work on it.”

Sidhu, who presented a shawl to Imran Khan, also said that Pakistan is a safe country and Cricket Team should come here and play in the country.

He also tweeted, “Pakistanion ki muhabat or piaar hamesha yad rakhon ga mujhy yahan aisa mehsos hua kay ye mera dosra ghar hai (I’ll always remember the love and respect offered to me by Pakistanis. I have realized Pakistan is my second home). S (I wish Imran Khan will take steps for betterment of his nation)…I spent a great time in Pakistan I realized Pakistan is a safe country. Cricket teams should come to Pakistan. Bye bye Pakistan.”

Meanwhile, Sidhu also interacted with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa as well as hugged him during the oath-taking function of Imran in Islamabad and for which he was even criticized by the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. On the other hand, Indian Media is also not happy with Sidhu’s this move and lambasted him for attending the ceremony in Pakistan.
