Bangladesh left-handed opener Tamim Iqbal has spoken about his eagerness to work with newly appointed batting coach Neil McKenzie.

McKenzie joined the team in the limited-overs leg of the series against the Windies.  The 42-year old, who has represented South Africa in 124 matches, took over from Thilan Samaraweera as the batting consultant and will be available until the World Cup next year.

Regarding working with McKenzie Tamim as per Cricbuzz said " Sometimes when you are going through a rough phase, [a] lot of negativity starts creeping into your head. At that point you can lose your focus and forget to concentrate on your own strength and areas that had helped you earn success earlier."

"You need someone to remind you during that lean phase [about] your areas of strength [batting] so that you can make a turnaround and it can either come from within or from someone in the dressing room [like Mckenzie]," he added.

"I am personally excited to work with Neil McKenzie. He has already said things that will make me 5 to 10 percent better. I hope to take the most out of his time as Bangladesh's batting coach," said Tamim.

Tamim said that the partnership with Shakib in the opening ODI helped them to regain confidence after their Test series whitewash. "The partnership with Shakib was important to see how we came back from the Test series. It was never easy to bat on that wicket, particularly after the Test series," he noted.

"We were playing a lot of dot balls and didn't panic. Batting long without looking at the scoreboard was key to doing well there. I think the partnership had a major impact in the series," he said adding he was amazed the way Shakib curbed his aggressive instincts to help in laying the platform for a big score."

"Shakib had to play differently because of the nature of the wicket. We had to be patient and not look for boundaries in the first 30 overs," Tamim said.

Tamim concluded by saying that, the return of Mashrafe Mortaza for the ODIs injected confidence in the side and was key for their turnaround.

"Mashrafe bhai made a very big contribution to our turnaround. He didn't bat or bowl for any of us but he changed the dressing room atmosphere, particularly after a bad Test series. He brought a positive vibe, which spread among all of us," he concluded.
