Mithali Raj, Captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, has given a fitting a reply to a troll, who criticized her for her delay in posting the Independence Day message on Twitter.

She is currently busy in playing in the ongoing the Women’s Challenger Trophy 2018 in Bangalore and even on 15 August (Wednesday) the skipper was playing at Alur and due to which she couldn’t share Independence Day message on this day.

On Thursday (16 August), Mithali wrote on her Twitter handle, “Wishing India, freedom from hunger, poverty, discrimination, sexism, abuse & greed. We have had 72 years to build ourselves in the manner we want to be defined. Are we close? Lives were lost so we could breathe free. Let’s honour those sacrifices. Jai Hind.”

To which a user named Manoj criticised the 35-year old for a delay, saying, “Independence day over http://mam.As a celebrity this is not good.”

Later, the Indian skipper replied to the user by tweeting, “I’m honored that you think I’m a celebrity. I’m merely an athlete on national duty since 1999. We have the challenger’s trophy going on and I don’t have the phone with me on the field or off it on Match days.”

She further went on to ask if the reason was good enough to know why she posted the message on the second day. Raj wrote, “Hope that’s a good enough reason for the delay? Happy Independence Day.”
