Women's Challenger Trophy: Priya Punia shines in India Green’s victory over India Blue

It was India Blue’s second consecutive loss in the tournament.

India Green recorded their first victory in the ongoing Women's T20 Challenger Trophy as they defeated India Blue by seven wickets (VJD method) in a rain-marred clash in Alur on Wednesday (August 15).

Chasing 83 runs to win, India Green rode on Priya Punia’s unbeaten 46 to complete the win in 15.4 overs.  Priya’s knock was laced with 1 boundary and 4 sixes.

After being put into bat, India Blue struggled to get going. If it was not for Vellaswamy Vanitha’s 39-ball 35, the Mithali Raj-led Blue side could have bundled out under 50.

Arundhati Reddy claimed two wickets in her four overs for India Green while Jhulan Goswami, Krutika Chaudhari and Monikha Das chipped in with wicket apiece.

It was India Blue’s second consecutive loss in the tournament. They had lost their first match against India Red by seven wickets on Tuesday (August 14).

India Green and India Red will now lock horns in the next match on Thursday (August 16).
