Tainted Australia cricketer David Warner's struggle in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League has continued as he made only 7 runs off 6 deliveries while playing for St Lucia Stars against Jamaica Tallawahs on Tuesday (August 14). Warner’s team also lost the match to Tallawahs by 6 wickets at Kingston, Jamaica.

After opting to bat first, St Lucia made 175 in their stipulated 20 overs. Warner was the first batsman to get out, chopped a delivery from fast bowler Oshane Thomas on to his stumps. Adam Zampa was the stand-out bowler for Tallawahs, claiming 3 wickets for 27 runs in his 4 overs.

In reply, Jamaica chased down the target with two balls to spare. Glenn Phillips smashed 58 off 40 balls, including 2 fours and 6 sixes while opening the innings. Rovman Powell was another contributor with the bat for the Tallawahs as he scored 43* off 23 balls to guide his team home along with Ross Taylor.

In the first two matches for St Lucia Stars, Warner has registered the scores of 9 and 11 against Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors respectively. Currently, St Lucia is placed at the bottom of the points table.

Warner is currently serving the 12-month ban from international cricket after he was found to be the chief instigator in the ball-tampering plot at Newlands in March. After the sanction imposed by Cricket Australia, the BCCI had also barred the southpaw from participating in the Indian Premier League 2018.

Warner recently played in a Twenty20 league in Canada. He represented Winnipeg Hawks in the tournament but couldn’t make a mark with the bat. The left-hander amassed 109 runs in 8 innings for the Winnipeg Hawks.

Warner’s next game for St Lucia Stars is against the Trinbago Knight Riders at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet on Thursday (August 16).
