Ever since AB de Villiers had bid adieu from international cricket in May 2018, the cricket fans were speculating about his future whether the 34-year-old will be playing in T20 leagues around the world or he will be involved with the game in some capacity.

However, De Villiers himself put all the speculations to rest last month when he said that he will continue to play IPL for a few years and will also represent Titans in domestic cricket. And now it is more or less confirmed that the Proteas batting maverick will feature in the inaugural edition of UAE T20 League.

On Monday (August 13), the official Twitter account of UAE T20 League announced the news in a confusing way which read: “We’re bringing you closer to one of cricket’s biggest stars REAL SOON He’s the record holder for the fastest 50, 100, and 150 in ODIs. Can you guess who he is?”

Given the fact that De Villiers is the proud owner of the record of being the quickest to reach fifty (16 balls), hundred (31 balls) and 150 runs (64 balls) in one-day internationals, the guess is pretty much crystal clear. The official announcement regarding the same is likely to be made soon.

The inaugural edition of the UAE T20 league is slated to be played between December 19 and January 11. A total of 24 matches among 5 teams will take place in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
