Navjot Singh Sidhu receives official invitation for Imran Khan’s swearing-in ceremony

Imran would be taking the oath as the 19th Prime Minister of Pakistan on August 18.

Pakistan's Prime Minister-in-waiting Imran Khan has personally invited Punjab Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu for the swearing-in ceremony, as per the reports in TOI. Imran would be taking the oath as the PM of Pakistan on August 18.

"Khan Saab even called me up inviting for the event on Friday. We chatted for a few minutes. I congratulated and conveyed my best wishes to him. This invite is in personal capacity and I have forwarded it to the union government for perusal," Sidhu quoted as saying by TOI.

The invitation sent from PTI chairman's secretariat read: "It's indeed a great pleasure to have invited you for the oath-taking ceremony of PTI's Chairman Imran Khan as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The event will be held in Islamabad on Saturday, August 18, 2018. We would want you to kindly grace this historic occasion with your presence

Sidhu revealed that former India all-rounder Kapil Dev, who was Imran's contemporary, has also received the invitation. Sidhu has more than three decades of association with Imran as a cricketer and a commentator.

Talking about his association with Khan, Sidhu said: “Indomitable spirit and ability to lead from the front has been the hallmark of Imran's towering personality and his ascent to the prime ministership is set to give a new beginning to the India-Pakistan relations in the coming times.”
