Former Pakistani cricketer and 1992 World Cup winning captain Imran Khan will be sworn in as the 19th Prime Minister of Pakistan on August 18th. His Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party emerged as the single largest party in the recently held general elections.
Indian high commissioner to Pakistan Ajay Bisaria met Imran and congratulated him on his win on Friday. Bisaria and Khan discussed a range of issues and prospects of India-Pakistan relationship.
The 65-year-old cricketer-turned-politician had contested from five constituencies and had won from all of them. Imran won the NA-53 seat by defeating former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, bagging 92,891 votes in contrast to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader's 44,314 votes.
Ajay Bisaria also gifted Imran Khan a bat with autographs of the Indian team.
