VVS Laxman doesn’t find Virat Kohli as good as Steve Smith and AB de Villiers in Tests and T20s

Virat Kohli had scored 149 and 51 in the first Test against England recently.

VVS Laxman rated Steve Smith and AB de Villiers better than Virat Kohli in Tests and T20sVirat Kohli recently made his fans proud with a superlative performance in the first Test of the Pataudi Trophy in England at Edgbaston. Kohli scored 149 and 51 in the two innings in the Test which India lost by 31 runs.

England might have got a lead in the five-match series, but Virat Kohli made sure that he put the demons of the 2014 tour to rest with his one-man show at Birmingham.

Virat Kohli has been ruling the roost in all the three formats. His record in all the three formats has been exemplary and he has been leading his team wonderfully well also.

VVS Laxman was one of the best batsmen the Indian fans ever saw. The Hyderabadi continued the legacy of Gundappa Vishwanath and Mohammad Azharuddin for silky shots using the wrists and mastery over spinners. Laxman immortalized himself with his innings of 281 against Australia in the 2001 Kolkata Test, which India won after following on.

Recently, VVS Laxman was asked by a fan who was his favorite batsmen in Tests, ODIs and T20 cricket. Much to the surprise of Indian fans, VVS Laxman named Steve Smith as the best Test batsman and AB de Villiers as the best T20 batsman, while Virat Kohli was named the best ODI batsman by the wonderful VVS.

This might come as a shock to the Indian fans that an Indian great doesn’t rate the Indian captain and premier batsman Virat Kohli to be the best in Tests and T20s. But the fact that VVS Laxman named him best overall in the all the three formats should bring some relief to the Virat Kohli fans.
