Former India captain Kapil Dev has no issues in attending Pakistan Prime Minister-in-waiting Imran Khan’s swearing-in ceremony if he gets a formal invitation.

Speaking on the sidelines of Louis Phillipe Celebrity Pro-Am — an international Professional Golf tournament in Bengaluru — Kapil asserted that, although he received a call from Khan’s team he is still awaiting official mail with regards to the invitation.

“I have been invited, but not in writing. I got a call from his team, but I haven’t received any mail yet. I am waiting for a formal invite,” Kapil told reporters.

“If I get a formal invite, I will go and attend the ceremony,” he added.

Kapil, who was considered as Imran’s rival during their playing days, also mentioned that he has already congratulated Khan over the phone on his victory in the 2018 General Elections. He also hoped that Imran will continue to work selflessly for his nation.

“I said well-done young man. Imran has worked very hard for 20-odd years and he selflessly worked for his country and today he got reward for that. I hope he can keep working in the same manner,” Dev remarked.

“Imran was a very good captain, for it was not easy to lead a team like Pakistan. Because of his brilliant captaincy, Pakistan did well. I hope he does the same for his country as Prime Minister,” he concluded.
