Michael Hussey believes India will need MS Dhoni in World Cup 2019

He feels it is unfair to count Dhoni out on the basis of just couple of failures.

Former Australia cricketer Michael Hussey, who has spent a lot of time with MS Dhoni opened up about the poor form of the Indian wicket-keeper batsman. Hussey has played along with Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They both represented Chennai Super Kings together. Hussey even coached the Dhoni-led Chennai in IPL 2018.

Speaking on Dhoni's recent form, he said, “It’s just two innings, come on! We know how MS plays – he takes some time in the middle,” Hussey said as per The Times of India. “He has got the power to catch up in the end. He plays according to the situation. I wouldn’t be reading too much into it."

The former India skipper had played slow innings against England in the recently concluded ODI series. He took too many balls to build his innings but eventually failed to finish the game which cost India the game. The men in blue lost the game by 2-1. Not only that, Dhoni was even booed by the crowd in Lord's for his unentertaining innings. Something we hardly get to listen about one of the most loved cricketers.

Hussey is confident that India will need Dhoni in the World Cup 2019. His experience can be an important aspect to win the world champions title.

“He has been a great player for such a long time and his experience will play a crucial role in the upcoming World Cup, especially, his ‘keeping skills and his power at the end of the innings. You should never write off a champion player.”
