Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar believes Imran Khan is a gift for Pakistan who would make the best in the Asian continent.
Imran Khan who had led Pakistan to victory in World Cup 1992, turned into a politician after retiring from cricket. Recently, his political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerged as the most successful party in the general elections.
“I believe that he can help Pakistan become Asian Tiger but the whole nation must stand by his side if we are to succeed,” said Akhtar while talking to media after meeting Khan.
Shoaib who played 163 ODIs and 46 Tests for Pakistan, is hopeful of a positive change under Imran Khan. “I would like to congratulate the entire nation and workers of PTI,” he said. “I’m confident that Imran bhai will deliver in accordance with the expectations of the people of Pakistan.”
Akhtar said the victory of PTI came only because of Imran's never say die attitude.
“Other parties did put up a good fight but they did not have the presence of [Imran] Khan in their ranks,” he said. “He has a never say die attitude coupled with determination and hard work which is the main reason behind his success.”
