Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammed Shahzad has been banned by Afghanistan Cricket Board(ACB) for breaching the player's code of conduct. Shehzad has been suspended from taking part in Afghanistan's next ODI game for the same following him being found guilty of breaking the important law. The flamboyant cricketer has also been fined 50 percent of his match fee because of the same.

Shahzad was found guilty of public disrespect of on-field umpires during the final of a domestic one-day competition following which the punishment was announced.

As per ACB's official website, Shahzad criticised the decisions of the on-field umpires during a post-match presentation ceremony after his team Speenghar’s defeat to Bost in the final of Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-Day Tournament on Friday, July 27.

The board on its website release wrote, “Shahzad was found guilty for public disrespect of on-field umpires following Speenghar’s loss against Bost in the Final of Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One-Day Tournament. Speaking in the post-match presentation ceremony which was broadcasted live, Shahzad criticized on-field umpires for their decisions in the Final of the recently concluded List A tournament,”

Afghanistan is due to travel to Ireland for a limited-overs tour consisting 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is and it looks like Shahzad, one of their key players with 69 ODIs and 2239 runs behind him, will be missing from the all-important first ODI that is scheduled to take place on August 27.
