Danushka Gunathilaka handed six-match ban for breach of code of conduct

Sri Lanka Cricket has found him in breach of the contract he has signed with the board.

Danushka Gunathilaka was handed a six-match ban with immediate suspension

Sri Lankan opener Danushka Gunathilaka was handed a ban of six international matches and was suspended with immediate effects for breach of 'Player Code of Conduct and Contractual Obligation', announced Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Friday (July 27).

The three-match suspension is due to the violation of the contract he has with Sri Lanka Cricket. While the remaining suspension of three matches is due to the one-year sentence which he was already serving since October 18, 2017, for breaching the 'Player Contract'.

In addition to the suspensions, Gunathilaka will not be paid for the second Test against South Africa in which he played, as he was in breach of contract during the course of the match. He won’t be entitled to any bonus or payments with regards to the match.
