Though West Indies won the second ODI against Bangladesh on Wednesday, Windies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph was officially reprimanded by the ICC for misconduct.

He was found guilty of Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. The Windies fast bowler was found to have violated Article 2.1.7 of the code, which relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batsman upon his/her dismissal during an international match”.

He was found guilty of giving Anamul Haque a send-off and gesturing him to go to the dressing room.

The sanction was proposed by Chris Broad of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees and Joseph admitted to the offense. The charge was leveled by on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Gregory Brathwaite, third umpire S Ravi, as well as fourth umpire Joel Wilson. Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

The West Indies won the match by three runs in Guyana to keep the three-match series alive.
