Cricket South Africa's (CSA) newly appointed CEO Thabang Moroe has disclosed that AB de Villiers might get associated with the national cricket board in future.

Ever since De Villiers had bid adieu from international cricket in May 2018, the cricket fans are speculating about his future whether the 34-year-old will be playing in T20 leagues around the world or he will be involved with the game in some capacity.

"I have already put in a proposal to him. In fact I asked him two days after his retirement, he indicated that it is something he'll be keen on but obviously we need to talk about the scale," Moroe told reporters in his first press conference on Tuesday (July 17).

However, Moroe made it clear that getting De Villiers' knowledge at CSA will not happen in the near future.

"AB has just retired with the notion of him wanting to spend some time with his family. If I'm going to put him in the development or pipeline structures and he spends more time away than when he was in the national team then it's obviously not going to work for him," Moroe remarked.

"So we're just need to sit and agree on how and when we're going to do it and the details around it. But it is something that he has indicated that he would be keen to do," he concluded.

Earlier this month, De Villiers had cleared the air saying that he will keep on playing IPL for a few years and will also represent Titans in domestic cricket.

“I will keep on playing IPL for a few years, and I would like to play for the Titans, and help some of the youngsters. But there are no set plans. I haven’t been able to say that for a long time. There are some offers on the table from around the world, but it will be nice to wake up and wonder what to do; to be normal,” AB had told IOL.
