South African spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi had to leave the tour of Sri Lanka midway due to unspecified family reasons. There has been no decision made on his return and no replacement has been declared ahead of the second Test match in Colombo.

Tabraiz Shamsi who played his second Test match took four wickets in the match against Sri Lanka where the home team won the match by 278 runs.

Shamsi's exclusion will give a chance the other two spinners in the team. Left-arm Keshav Maharaj and uncapped leg-spinner Shaun von Ber will get to play in the second Test match.

As far as the first Test match is concerned, Sri Lanka banked on home conditions to register a 278 run victory against the Proteas. Dimuth Karunaratne was awarded the Man of the Match for his superlative batting in the first Test. He scored a ton in the first innings and 60 in the second to define the batting resistance of the Lankan lions.

Then the Sri Lankan bowlers led by Dilruwan Perera dismissed South Africa for 126 in the first innings and an even paltry 73 in the second.  Doing this they showed their prowess as a  team who totally decimates oppositions in home conditions. South Africa will have to play out of their skins to level the Test series and now with Shamsi missing the second Test, South Africa are literally in dire straits.

South Africa will also play 5 ODI matches and one-off T20 match against Sri Lanka that will take place on August 14. The next Test match will begin from July 20 where the visitors will look to level the Test series.
