Former Australian cricketer, Kerry O’Keeffe wants Australian selectors to consider Aaron Finch as the replacement of David Warner in Test cricket. O Keeffe believes Aaron Finch could replace David Warner in the Test team of Australia. With David Warner and Steve Smith out of the Test playing XI of Australia till the next March over their inclusion in the ball-tampering scandal, Aaron Finch might get a chance to play in the Test side.

“I’m very interested in what they do with Aaron Finch,” said O’Keeffe.

“Because, if you get international hundreds, but you’re not seen as a Test player, then why not?

“He looks a down and out the opener. Renshaw looks a lock at the top of the order.

“I think Finch should be prioritised as a short-form captain with a view to the World Cup.

“If he’s not seen as a Test contender then I believe they should say, ‘well, an early appointment: your whole purpose over the next 12 months is the World Cup. We think you should take us to it.’”

If Aaron Finch makes his Test debut for Australia, it will be really interesting to see how he performs as he has been a consistent run-getter for Australia in the shorter formats of the game.
