Pakistan recently won the T20I triangular series in Zimbabwe, involving the hosts and Australia. Sarfraz Ahmed and his men comprehensively brushed aside the Australians led by Aaron Finch, by seven wickets in the Final to clinch the championship. The visitors are now scheduled to play a five-match ODI series against Zimbabwe which gets underway from July 13 at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. The Men in Green are ranked fifth in ODIs and they would want to put forth a strong show, provided the series takes place without any undesired hassle. The hosts didn’t have an auspicious tri-series and would be keen to give their rivals a run for their money.

Best economical pick – The leg-spinner Shadab Khan, who has 24 wickets in 17 matches, will be the go-to man for Pakistan when it comes to spin. Shadab is an excellent asset to have, a leg-spinner with a lot of variations and a lower-order batsman who can tonk the ball. Moreover, he’s an excellent fielder as well. He is the best all-rounder for Pakistan across all formats in the recent days. Being a wrist-spinner, his responsibility is to keep the batsmen in check.

Top captains & vice captains – Fakhar Zaman, who is currently at the second spot in T20 International batsman rankings, has been in tremendous form. In the recently concluded tri-nation series in Zimbabwe, which also featured Australia, the left-hander scored 278 runs in five matches and was adjudged as 'Player of the Series'. Babar Azam has fantastic records in the ODIS. He is one of the best batsmen for Pakistan at the moment, especially in the limited-overs format. He is the No.2 batsman in ICC Batsmen Rankings for ODIs at the moment. He has an average of over 50 in the one day internationals.

Smart pick – A veteran, Shoaib Malik, occupies the number five spot. He remains to be a stalwart of their limited-overs lineup having racked up a significant amount of runs. In the recently concluded tri-series, Malik scored 132 runs in five matches at an average of 66. He has scored 6975 runs in 261 ODI games that he played at an average of 35.23 with a decent strike-rate of 81.77.

Cautious Pick – Elton Chigumbura is one of his team’s more experienced players, however, he hasn’t been able to deliver the goods for his side in the recent past. The all-rounder has scored just 28 runs in four matches of the recently concluded T20 Tri Series at an average of 9 that doesn’t showcase the potential he has got.

My XI – Fakhar Zaman (Captain), Babar Azam (Vice-Captain), Shadab Khan, Shoaib Malik, Hasan Ali, Tendai Chisoro, Fahim Ashraf, Peter Moor, Chamu Chibhabha, Tarisai Musakanda, Asif Ali
