Australian legend Glenn McGrath is all set to join Channel 7 as a commentator as it prepares for its first summer as cricket’s host broadcaster.

McGrath will join his former teammates including Ricky Ponting, Michael Slater and Damien Fleming. This also brings in a massive shift in the Australian broadcast media as Seven and Fox Sports signed a joins six-year, $1.182 billion deal to pinch the rights from Channel 9 from this summer.

The deal runs from 2018 to 2024 and in the meantime, Seven has been given the rights to broadcast all the home Test matches along with 43 of 59 BBL games. The rest will be aired on Fox Sports.

Seven’s recently-appointed head of cricket Dave Barham, the executive behind Channel 10’s revolutionary BBL coverage, said McGrath’s expert analysis and authority when it comes to fast bowling meant he was a key signing for the commentary team.

McGrath ended his career with 563 international wickets in 124 Test matches.  He will begin his stint with Seven during the Adelaide Oval Test match between Australia and India on December 6.

Here is the official confirmation by Seven's official Twitter handle.
