Zimbabwe were penalized after the maintained a slow over rate during their match against Pakistan on Wednesday (July 4) in Harare. Likewise, skipper Hamilton Masakadza was fined 20 percent of his match fees while the rest of the team was fined 10 percent each.

Zimbabwe were found an over short of the target after taking time allowances into consideration. The charges were labelled by the on-field umpires Langton Rusere and Iknow Chabi, the third umpire Russell Tiffin and the fourth umpire Jeremiah Matibiri. Match referee Jeff Crowe imposed the fine after Masakadza pleaded guilty.

Zimbabwe are yet to win their first game of the series having played 3 games so far. Zimbabwe are playing the series amidst payment disparities with their board and an incident like this certainly is demoralizing for the entire team.

Zimbabwe had the initiative in the match when their openers Cephas Zhuwao and Solomon Mire started off in a promising fashion. Mire in the process notched up the highest T20I score by a Zimbabwean batsmen as he scored an impressive and strokeful 94. Zimbabwe reached a competitive 162 at the end of their  20 overs.

Fakhar Zaman (47) then led the Pakistan fightback coupled with Hussain Talat (44) and Sarfraz Ahmed (38) to take Pakistan to a comfortable victory.

The top two teams will play the final on 8th July in Harare.
