Former South African cricketer, Allan Donald has termed Dale Steyn as the greatest quick bowler of South Africa. In time, Kagiso Rabada may surpass Dale Steyn in numbers but Allan Donald feels Dale Steyn is the best bowler South Africa has ever produced till now.

Dale Steyn who made his debut in 2004 has played 86 Test matches and taken 419 Test wickets. Steyn is only two wickets away to become South Africa's leading wicket-taking bowler in Test matches.

“I’m just in admiration of his consistency and that’s how you judge champion, fast bowlers,” Donald, who is also the Proteas’ former bowling coach, told Sky Sports.

“You look at his strike-rate, his passion for the game, his hunger to be a champion bowler and to lead from the front.”

Allan Donald himself has taken 330 wickets for South Africa, he has even seen Dale Steyn's form in county cricket for Hampshire. Steyn played for Hampshire. “That’s what sets him apart from everyone else. He is unequivocally the best fast bowler South Africa has ever produced,” said Donald.

“I just hope he stays fit.” Allan Donald concluded.

Dale Steyn will be making his return at the international level for South Africa in their upcoming tour to Sri Lanka. South Africa will be playing two Test matches, 5 ODIs and one-off T20 match that will be played on August 14.
