Australia have finally managed to end their losing rut in the colored clothing as they defeated Pakistan comfortably in the ongoing T20I tri-series. They were pummeled by England across 6 encounters and needed a massive boost in confidence to pose any threat to the World number 1 side in the format. Australia were simply magnificent in the field as they took some unbelievable catches which led to their opposition not being able to make a comeback at any stage. They were completely authoritative in their approach on the day and the credit of the same has to go to Stanlake who made it all easy with a stunning four-over spell up front. They will now face the hosts Zimbabwe now on Tuesday.

Best economical pick – Billy Stanlake was simply unstoppable and unplayable in the match against Pakistan. He delivered Australia’s most economical figures ever and the second-best figures overall in a remarkable display of pace, bounce and accuracy. He claimed 4-8 from his four overs. His 24 balls delivered 18 dot balls in one of the best bowling displays T20 International cricket has ever seen.

Top captains & vice captains – Needing only 117 for victory against Pakistan, Aaron Finch wasted no time in chasing down the modest total, blasting four fours and six maximums in his 68 not out. He smashed two huge sixes in a row, one ending up in the Australian change rooms, on the way to a 27-ball half-century. Should his form continue in this T20 tri-series, Australia will be a huge chance to reclaim the T20 World No.1 ranking off Pakistan. Hamilton Masakadza, the newly appointed skipper, has nearly 1500 runs in the format and has been their stalwart for the last 12 years. With loads of experience under his belt, the top order batter has the responsibility to shepherd his team. His team will be up against the World Champions Australia and the 34-year old’s role is expected to be pivotal.

Smart pick – Debutant Tarisai Musakanda was probably the only positive for Zimbabwe in the defeat against Pakistan in the opening game of the Tri Series. The 23 year old, who is one of the crop of upcoming cricketers developed through the Zimbabwe cricket system, labored in vain as his 43 run knock found no one to complement, chasing Pakistan’s 182/4.

Cautious Pick – D'Arcy Short looked comfortable in the game against Pakistan, but threw his wicket for a low score again. The southpaw struggles against spin and short ball in international level, does not bode well for his immediate future.

My XI – Aaron Finch (Captain), Hamilton Masakadza (Vice-Captain), Billy Stanlake, Tarasai Musakanda, Jhye Richardson, Tendai Chisoro, Ashton Agar, Peter Moor, Travis Head, Glenn Maxwell, Nic Maddinson
