Gautam Gambhir calls Rajat Sharma’s DDCA win a victory of honest intent

Rajat Sharma and his team defeated the team of former India cricketer Madan Lal in the DDCA elections.

 IndiaTV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma won the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) election On Monday (July 2, 2018) and became the new President of the association. The elections were held from June 27-30. He was up against former India player Madan Lal.

Rajat Sharma received a total of 1,521 votes (54.40 percent) in his favor and Rakesh Kumar Bansal has been elected as the Vice President with 48.87 percent votes in his favor.

Along with these results, Vinod Tihara has been elected as Secretary, Om Prakash Sharma is the new Treasurer and Rajan Manchanda is the Joint Secretary.

Apart from them, Renu Khanna has been elected as Director Woman, Apurv Jain, Alok Mittal, Nitin Gupta, Shivnandan Sharma, CA Sudhir Kumar Aggarwal were elected as Directors while Sanjay Bhardwaj has been elected as the Director First Class Cricketer.

"I thank all members of DDCA who voted in the elections and reposed their trust in us. I now invite all the members to join hands to bring about transparency in the functioning of DDCA," Mr. Sharma said after the results.

His team swept the elections 12-0 and Rajat Sharma will hold the post for the next three years.

India and Delhi cricketer Gautam Gambhir was also very happy with Rajat Sharma’s election as the DDCA president and tweeted his emotions saying “The 12-0 victory of @RajatSharmaLive group is a victory of honest intent over some needless faffing. Over the years, some loud mouths have done nothing for Delhi cricket. I am positive the new administration will take some solid developmental steps.

Gambhir has had his own battles with DDCA and he hopes that the new administration will take Delhi cricket to new heights.
