Cricket Australia has officially confirmed a new 10-team Twenty20 tournament that will be featuring the best Premier sides from around the country. The competition is likely to be played in March, with the winner of each state and territory's respective T20 competitions qualifying to contest the event where New South Wales and Victoria will also send a team each.

The first team to enter the event will be revealed at the end of this month's Northern Territory Strike League in Darwin, with the other nine sides qualifying as the winners of Western Australia, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and ACT Premier T20 tournaments, as well as the two finalists from the Victorian and NSW competitions.

Cricket Australia also announced that these state competitions will be held simultaneously over the December-January period before the commencement of the main event in March 2019.

The national Premier competition will be held at the Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide on March 5-6 2019. The event could see the banned trio of Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft get some cricket under their belt before their international return.
