Much like his former opening partner David Warner in Global T20 Canada League, Cameron Bancroft too has struggled on his comeback to competitive cricket.

Cameron, who has been banned by Cricket Australia for 9 months after his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa got proven, was earlier allowed to take part in club cricket in Darwin. According to which, he turned up for Desert Blaze in the NT Strike League but could manage 1 run in the first match.

Opening the batting, the 25-year-old got off the mark before giving an easy catch to the fielder at cover off Southern Storm opening bowler Blade Baxter but he is pleased to have finally played his beloved sport again.

Bancroft was quoted saying by Cricket.com.au as, “To get back into some cricket is really exciting, Obviously not an ideal start but the team won, it’s not all about you sometimes. I’ll keep enjoying every moment here"

“Cricket is a component and part of my life. I know that for the last couple of months cricket has not necessarily been the No.1 priority in my life. But my life is still pretty good and there’s lots of great things about it,”

Bancroft thanked his friends and family for the support in tough times and tellingly said, “I had cricket taken away from me there for a little while but I’ve got a lot of great friends and support,”

Bancroft will continue to strive in an effort to get the baggy green back, as he'll be available for the full season for his club team.

Bancroft's former Australian Captain Steve Smith too is getting some cricket under his belt with his involvement in the inaugural Global T20 Canada League.
