Having arrived on Irish shores as the 3rd ranked T20I side in the world, the Indian team will be leaving them with just one place behind the pinnacle. After completing a series victory over the Irish team, Virat Kohli's men have been awarded the 2nd place in the ICC T20 rankings by the game's governing body.

The ICC has released the latest developments on the rankings table and it has brought good news for the Indian team which continues to get better in a format that has often been hailed as the one they have never mastered.

Meanwhile, after their defeat at the hands of England in the lone T20I game and India's huge win in Ireland, Australia has slipped to 3rd position with 122 rating points behind India's 123 points. They both are behind Pakistan though, who sit well at the top with 131 points.

India’s next assignment is the three-match T20 series against England and even if they sweep that series, they can reach a maximum of 127 points which is not enough to dislodge Pakistan from the top.
