Former Australian all-rounder, Shane Watson wants Steve Smith and David Warner should be allowed to feature in the next season of Big Bash League (BBL) especially when Cricket Australia complaint with them taking part in any domestic league. Watson has come out in support of Steve Smith and David Warner to play in Big Bash League 2018-19.

As of for now, Steve Smith and David Warner cannot take part in the upcoming BBL as a punishment over their involvement in the ball-tampering scandal that made Cricket Australia handle one-year ban to both of them.

Although, both the Australian batsmen are taking part in Global Canada T20 league. Steve Smith is playing for Toronto Nationals and Warner is playing for Winnipeg Hawks.

“The thing that just disappoints me about the whole situation is now Steve Smith and Dave Warner are over promoting other tournaments by playing in them,” Watson was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au.

“I understand the rulings that happened at Cricket Australia, the 12-month bans and all the stipulations they put around that. But for them to have the opportunity to go and promote other tournaments, I’d prefer if they’re going to do that and have access to do that (that) they have access to promote the Big Bash, for example,” he added.

“At the moment we’ve got a few world-class players and we’ll continue to discover those but they don’t just fall out of trees. That’s why Steve and Dave are such an integral part to Australian cricket, especially in the shorter format as well with the World Cup coming up,” he said.

In the meantime, Steve Smith played a crucial knock in his comeback match for Toronto Nationals against Vancouver Knights. He slammed 61 runs off 41 deliveries to let his team chase the mammoth target set by the opponent. His team won the match by 6 wickets with four balls to spare.
