Germany Cricket Team takes a dig at ICC after Germany crashed out of FIFA World Cup

Germany was defeated by South Korea 2-0 and crashed out in round one of 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Germany cricket took a dig at ICC in Twitter after Germany crashed out of FIFA World Cup 2018

Defending champions Germany was eliminated from the on-going FIFA 2018 World Cup at the group stage following a 2-0 defeat by South Korea. It was a shocker for football fans as Germany was one of the favorites to win the titles.

The four-time winners crashed out after South Korea scored 2 goals in injury time. Kim Young-Gwon's 92nd-minute goal - which was initially ruled out for offside before being awarded after a video assistant referee decision - left Germany stunned.

While fans were numb after Germany's loss, the Twitter account of Germany cricket team took this opportunity to take a dig at International Cricket Council (ICC). Sounds bizarre, right? But it did happen even though there is no relation between the two sports.

In a tweet, Cricket Germany wrote, “We hereby ask #FIFA to make the next #WorldCup open only to ten teams."

ICC has reduced the number of teams in World Cup to 10 and that has affected the associate cricket teams chances to play the World Cup. ICC was criticized for this move as it will affect the growth of minnows.

Recently, Nepal's cricket star Sandeep Lamichhane had urged ICC to increase the number of teams in the World Cup and give associate nations a better chance of playing on the big stage.

"ICC should have increased the number of teams so that every player gets a chance to play (in) the World Cup and grow their cricket to the top level," he said.
