Irish all-rounder Kevin O'Brien to play in Nepal's Everest Premier League

The Everest Premier T20 League likely to get underway in November 2018.

Ireland’s star all-rounder Kevin O’Brien was signed up by the Kathmandu Kings as their first overseas player for the upcoming second edition of Nepal's Everest Premier League (EPL), confirmed by the franchise on 26 June (Tuesday).

The Dublin-born Kevin, who is best known for his 50-ball century in the 2011 World Cup in India, has also confirmed his association with the Nepalese Franchise League on Twitter.

The franchise announced Kevin’s signing on their official Twitter handle, “Kathmandu Kings XI are happy to announce the first centurion for Ireland @KevinOBrien113 as the 1st international player for this year’s TVS EPL. Many thanks to agent @niallnobiobrien for arranging the contract.”

While the 34-year-old right-hander is delighted with the fact he got the great opportunity to play in front of the passionate Nepalese fans in the franchise tournament. He tweeted, “Delighted to sign up for @kathmandukings for this year @eplt20official. Can’t wait to get over to Nepal and experience the passion for cricket from supporters and players!”

Meanwhile, the all-rounder is all set to play for Ireland in a tough two-match T20 International series against India at home, starting from Wednesday (27 June) at the Malahide Cricket Club ground in Dublin, while the second and final T20I to be held at the same venue on 29 June (Friday).

He has already shown his strength in the T20 cricket across the world in New Zealand, Bangladesh and the West Indies and England and even gave serious fight to Pakistan in their Test debut by hitting a magnificent knock of 118 runs. Kevin is looking forward to make a mark in his favorite format against Virat Kohli and his men.

Noteworthy, the Everest Premier T20 League was inaugurated in July 2017 with the Biratnagar Warriors emerging as champions, while the second edition is likely to get underway in November this year.
