Newly-appointed New South Wales captain Peter Nevill is eagerly awaiting banned NSW teammates Steve Smith and David Warner’s return to the side, saying he wants his young brigade to pick their brains when they will make their way at the final leg of the Sheffield Shield this season.

At the moment, Smith and David Warner are serving 12-month bans for their involvement in the ball-tampering saga in South Africa, will only able to play in the JLT Sheffield Shield final, as their suspensions expire on March 28 next year, the same date the Shield final starts.

The wicket-keeper batsman further went on to express his desire that he wants to see the world-class Smith and Warner in his squad for the grand final of the Sheffield Shield 2018-19.

As per reports in cricket.com.au, Nevil told reporters on Tuesday (26 June), “I certainly would not be against them playing any games for us. I'd love to have them around, any time. Hopefully, we can see them, at some point this season, playing for us. If that's the Shield final, we'll have to make sure we make that.”

The suspended duo are also likely to train alongside NSW players this season and Nevill believes that it will be a great chance for the youngsters to pick their brain to lift-up their game.

Nevill signed off by saying, “It doesn't have to be on a formal basis. Some of the best learning experiences for people are quite informal things. Having that kind of knowledge around the place is only going to help upskill some of these young guys, but also our more experienced guys.”
