The 2019 Cricket World Cup fixture between India and Pakistan has attracted the maximum number of ticket applications, as the contest continues to be the most anticipated in the marquee event. The 12th edition of the competition is still a year away but there is already great hype and excitement amongst the fans about it.

More than a million people have applied for tickets through the online process, with the maximum applicants wanting to watch the India-Pakistan rivalry resume at the historic Old Trafford on June 16. According to  ICC,  the fixture between the two Asian arch-rivals has received enough applications to fill the iconic Wembley Stadium twice.

The final at Lord's on July 14 is the second most popular match of the tournament. Growing demand has prompted the ICC to use ballot system to allocate tickets for 42 out of 48 matches.

Steve Elworthy, the managing director of the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019, was recently quoted saying to ANI as, “The response has been fantastic, not only domestically in England and Wales, but from fans around the world, which gives us enormous satisfaction as we work towards making this a truly global celebration of cricket,”

“We expected a high demand for tickets, so we are pleased we could reward the players, coaches, umpires and supporters who make up the Cricket Family via priority access. We look forward to seeing the excitement continue when the Public Ballot opens later this summer,”

Another opportunity will come cricket lovers’ way to buy tickets when the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Public Ballot opens on August 1. It will be the first time when the tickets go on general release. Remaining tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis later in 2018.
