Kerala is a fantastic place and I enjoyed my time playing for Kochi Tuskers Kerala, says Brendon McCullum

A Kiwi traveller to Kerala was surprised to see his following in the God's own country.

Former New Zealand skipper, Brendon McCullum is amazed after getting to know his fan following he has got in Kerala. Brendon McCullum has a very special bond with India, he has even played for Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Lions.  

One of Brendon McCullum's friend made him aware about his following after one traveller from New Zealand came to visit the God's own country and McCullum was all in praise of Kerala, termed it as a fantastic place.

The attacking batsman from New Zealand is well recognised for his explosive batting in all the format, he has even struck one triple century in Test matches against India. He remains a popular figure in Kerala even after years and the people identify the travellers from New Zealand with his reverence.

The traveller name is Virginia Winder who came to Kerala for vacation and e got to know about the fan following about Brendon McCullum. She even wrote an article in stuff.co.nz  about her experience and how Brendon McCullum's name helped her in the second most popular country. She wrote- “You don’t know me, but as far as the people of Kerala, India, are concerned, we are dear friends, if not family. My husband and I have just returned from a holiday in the southern-most state of the world’s second-most populated country, and you helped break the ice. Big time,”

“Brendon McCullum is my heart,” Dil, 20, from Thrissur, hand on the chest like a man standing for a national anthem, Virginia added.

Brendon McCullum's friend left no opportunity to make him aware of the happening, he took Twitter to let him know about it, he wrote- “@Bazmccullum Thought you might enjoy this. Apparently, you’re kind of a big deal in India. My friend wrote this after her travels there.”

Brendon McCullum was really quick to respond on his friend's post and even called Kerala as one of the fantastic places in the world. Through his Twitter handle, he rejoiced his time with the Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the Indian Premier League. He replied- “Thanks for passing on mate. Kerala is a fantastic place and I enjoyed my time playing for Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the @IPL a few years back. Appreciate your kind words Virginia and I’m very pleased to hear you had such a great time over there.”
