Theunis de Bruyn, South African middle-order batsman, is all set to finally realize his dream of playing County Cricket, as he has been signed up by the Surrey County Cricket Club for the County Championship. Surrey has confirmed the signing of Bruyn on their official website on 19 June (Tuesday).
The 25-year-old will play two matches in the first division of the County Championship for Surrey against Somerset and Yorkshire before heading to Sri Lanka in July with Proteas Test squad. Theunis has already joined the Surrey squad to face Somerset at Guildford on Tuesday.
With the Surrey deal, the right-hander is aiming for the vacant No.4 slot in the South African Test squad that is currently unoccupied after AB de Villiers’ retirement last month.

Noteworthy, South Africa is scheduled to play two Tests in Sri Lanka before heading into the hectic home season, featuring the assignments against Pakistan, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, England’s bowler Jake Ball is all set to play for the Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club until the end of the 2021 season after extending his contract with the club on Tuesday (19 June).
Ball signed off by saying, “Being Notts born and bred, I'm delighted to sign up to my home county for three more years. It was fantastic to be involved in the success we had last year and I hope we can have more as a club in the seasons to come.”
